(But note that I'm not saying to follow the "Then, do the following:" steps in a nice box that Google's omniscient bots have determined is all you need to know to understand what happened and how to fix it. I'm simply saying that search will get you links to a lot of discussions of corrupt frm files.)<br>

OK, This is really bothering me. I can understand having a "tl;dr" for simple well-defined/-bounded questions like, "What is Tom Hanks' birthday?", but for database administration? Google should know better... Shame on you, Google.</blockquote><div><br></div><div>Thanks Hika and Mike. It turned out I wasn't even able to drop mythconverg. I had to go in and manually delete half a dozen .frm, MYI, MYD files from the mysql directory before it would let me do that. In the end, I did a complete restore of the two day old backup and move the stranded recordings to the Videos directory. It sounds like perhaps I could have salvaged the db at the risk of inconsistencies, but not a big deal.</div><div><br></div><div>-J</div></div></div></div>
