</span>In /etc/X11/Sessions you should have a script called MATE. Create a<br>
simlink in your home directory called: .xsession to that script. So:<br>
<br>
ln -s /etc/X11/Sessions/MATE ~/.xsession<br>
<br>
And remove (or rename) an existing .xsession link.<br>

<br></blockquote><div>Thanks Hika.</div><div> </div><div>Even though I wanted to stay on 14.04 LTS I finally gave up, because it turned out VAAPI was not working in Mythtv and Intel Graphics drivers are not available for 14.04 anymore. After numerous failed attempts of distro upgrade I ended up installing Ubuntu 15.04 from scratch.-(</div><div> </div><div>Now it works (I just need to figure out some sound issues) but menu navigation does not seem as quick as under Mythbuntu. So I am thinking if there is anything I can shave off the install to make it snappier. Would a different desktop environment help or is it more a question of programs and services running in the background that are independent of the desktop?</div><div> </div><div>/Thomas</div><div> </div></div></div></div>
