<p>I've used USB passthru (of my HDPVR) to my Vmware guest running Myth. It's been working great for year.<br>

<p>I realize the HDMI' HDCP is an issue but circumvention (stripping) has become so common that even local stores sell HDCP strippers. I won't go any further on this topic since it has nothing to do with MythTV, but direct HDMI input is the way to go if possible.<br>

<p>The HDMI input route (over network) is appealing for VM users and others. So if you pursue this route please update the list! (Other than HDCP stripping of course).<br>

</span>I believe there are a couple of commercial products (with<br>
commercial prices) to perform those functions. And if<br>
you have to ask, you likely cannot afford them. Usually<br>
even rack mounted (if you care) for your entire video<br>
processing room. I suspect that few (if any) have any<br>
existing MythTV recorder support.<br>

Ok thanks. I have a vmware based backend and was hopping for network based device but since that is not a option I will try usb passthrough.<br clear="all">
