Personally I'm happy with the IguanaIR device [1]. It's generic, very LIRC-centric and can also do IR blasting. You can use it either with the built-in kernel driver or a user-space daemon packaged on most distros.<br>
<br>
Also, there are good reports from the IrToy device [2], with a fresh lirc driver.<br>

Well I apologize Alec. Somehow I keep missing your answers or am distracted by something else.<br>

The naked PCB of the Toy is a bit ugly. The IguanaIR, if you say there is a kernel driver, should be definitely workable with the addition of a USB extender cable. These things need to be moved to somewhere around the TV so the user can point the remote at it.<div class="HOEnZb"><div class="h5"><br>
