I tried to set up a recording yesterday about an
hour before the show
started by selecting a recording from the listing
guide and choosing
"record this showing", but the recording status
showed "Not listed". I then
tried a bunch of variations including "record all on
any channel" and even
a manual schedule, using both the frontend and
mythweb, but it remained
stuck on "Not listed". All filters were cleared.
Weirdly, the same show a
week later shows up scheduled as expected (when
using any recording
schedule type). Here's the first few lines from my
mythbacked --printsched
What "Not listed" is supposed to mean is that you set
up a rule for a
single record or the like - a rule that records a
program at a
specified time and date. Then later, the EPG data has
changed and
that rule can not find the program to record it. I
get it
occasionally here in New Zealand when some high
profile sporting event
comes along and they decide to run that instead of a
one-off
documentary I had marked to record, or when I have
told the scheduler
with an override that a particular playing of one
episode of a program
was the one I wanted to record.

I get round that problem by selecting "Find and record one
of these". That allows for rescheduling by the networks
and/or movements between channels - which happens a lot
around here at Wimbledon time...

..it does require an eyeball or two to make sure you have
the episode you wanted but that's better than missing it
completely.

Yes, in my web searches that's the only situation I
could find where "Not Listed" occurred, but in my case it
showed "Not Listed" immediately after selecting it to
record. And a "Find" or "Record All" rule *still* didn't
pick up the showing. It's baffling.
I don't recall if I saw that "Not Listed" message, but a similar
thing has happened to me a few times when I set up a record rule a
week in advance, but the program was not recorded. I discovered
later that the station had replaced the show with a different one
between the time I scheduled the recording and the time it was
supposed to run. Since then I've made it a practice to run
mythfilldatabase --dd-grab-all just before setting up my rules. I
usually set up my rules a week or so in advance. Now I still do
that, but I also run mythfilldatabase --dd-grab-all in the middle of
the week and make sure the programs are still on the schedule. I
haven't had that problem since then.

Yeah, I tried that too. I ran mythfilldatabase --dd-grab-all when I couldn't get it to schedule, but the problem persisted. The listing was clearly there, but the scheduler still showed "Not Listed".

Karl
