temperature comes down...all the while, nvidia-smi seems to be<br>
reporting that the fan is working (based on the fan speed % hanging<br>
etc). It seems like an issue with the fan, but unless that fan speed<br>
is in fact wrong I'm not sure I understand how.<br>

When it got really hot the picture would freeze and other bad things happened.</div><div><br></div><div>The fan on the card WAS WORKING. I physically saw it spinning but when I actually checked close, it was dirty and hard to spin by hand.</div><div>So I replaced the fan with a bigger fan that I rigged to the heat sinks.</div><div>Ever since then, around 2 years, it has operated well within specs with no issues.</div><div><br></div><div>You might try replacing the fan with something better. It certainly will not make it worse.</div></div></div></div>
