I have an older PC, I built, with an Intel Quad Core processor. I have an Nvidia 9800GTX PCIE video card. I have no problems with Ubuntu 14.04, Mythbuntu 14.04, or MythTV 027, as far as video issues.

I have always used Nvidia cards and have had issues in the past with other PC's running earlier versions of Ubuntu. Each time the Kernel changed I had to reinstall the video drivers. There were also issues with Overscan. I output the video from my Nvidia cards to the HDMI ports on my 50" HDTV. As the Nvidia drivers improved, so did the ability to ReSize the display.
