If you run mythfilldatabase as *any* other userid at<br>
some point, inadvertently, or intentionally (perhaps<br>
as root right after one modified /etc/hosts, or as<br>
yourself rather than the mythtv user), you are going<br>
to see issues(*) that will not produce any (useful)<br>
error message at later runs. In fact, a common<br>
result is no error messages, but no new data.<br>
<br>
Make sure you delete any files or directories in /tmp<br>
that start with the word mythtv (in particular,<br>
mythtv_ddp_data).<br>
<br>
And then make sure you run mythfilldatabase with<br>
the same user that your backend (or crontab) will<br>
do so.<br>

(*) As mentioned in another thread, there are<br>
tickets in trac that will (a) cause common failures<br>
to actually generate error messages rather than<br>
failing silently in more cases, and (b) use an<br>
appropriate temp name to avoid the most common<br>
failures in the first place.<br>
