Well all I can say as a very long term Myth user, reverse scrolling
was sorely missed by me having years of recordings.

Not kept up with this thread too well, did someone say they were
taking on a modified theme? If so, the I would be happy to try and
help, just to keep that feature.

IMHO, scrolling backward from A to Z is a UI no-no: and it's no wonder
any well thought-of UI doesn't allow you to do so...
It's even worse in myth theme showing the media in a grid format.
You never know where you are in the list, and you can find yourself
moving to the top of the list when it "appeared" you were right in the
middle.
confusing as!

I agree that scroll wrapping is confusing in the grid formatted
themes, especially when the highlighted entry stays put (centered)
and the list is what moves sideways - you don't get any feedback
that you've reached the end and wrapped around.

In the Mythcenter-Wide theme that I modified, there is feedback
that the wrap around is occurring. When scrolling upwards
(backwards) the highlight moves to the top of the list (top of the
screen) and stays at the top while scrolling upwards. When the
top (beginning) of the list is reached and you do one more scroll,
the highlight jumps to the bottom of the screen, and if
up-scrolling is continued the highlight marches up with the list
standing still, until it is back to the top of the screen, then
the list starts moving again, under the highlight.

When scrolling down the same jump occurs when the end of the list
is reached, the highlight jumps from the bottom of the screen to
the top of the screen, indicating a wrap has occurred. As long as
one is aware that the screens are wrapable, the wrap is obvious.

One scenario where this is useful is when you are trying to avoid
using "Live TV". Say you automatically record the news every
night and want to start watching it shortly after it starts. The
"watch recordings" screen is normally set up to display the oldest
shows first, so you can watch a series in the correct order, but
this doesn't work for near-liveTV where you want to watch the most
recent stuff.

So you enter the "watch recordings" screen, which you have set to
open up to "All Programs". All you need to to is arrow once to
the right to get to the list of _everything_ you have ever
recorded (oldest first) then arrow up once (to wrap to the end)
and you're at all of the most recent recordings - which are the
three in-progress network news shows (or any other near-live show
that you are recording). That's all it took, two clicks. No
scrolling down to try and find NBC Nightly News or ABC or CBS. All
the current stuff is right there.

I find it quite useful.
