I'd be interested to know what the streamed video quality is like.</div><div><br>I've recently updated to mythtv 0.27 and was testing out the Airplay support. Streaming from iTunes on a macbook pro works waay better than it did in 0.25! I was also surprised to find that I could stream video from iTunes and even my iPhone to my mythtv box (running mythfrontend + mythbackend). However, the sound was all white noise :-\</div>
<div><br></div><div>I was hoping that mythfrontend would support the OSX Mavericks display mirroring (<a href="http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14375">http://support.apple.com/kb/PH14375</a>) so I could be able to use the screen attached to the mythtv box as a secondary display for my macbook perhaps with AirParrot (<a href="http://www.airsquirrels.com/airparrot/">http://www.airsquirrels.com/airparrot/</a>). Sadly, it appears that the macbook does not detect mythfrontend under "System Preferences -> Displays -> AirPlay Display". I didn't want to purchase an app that doesn't work for me without an AppleTV.</div>

Ah, I misunderstood. I thought you were trying to use your existing
iMac (and screen) as the output device, and run MythTV on an AppleTV
to stream a screen to it.<br>

I went back and re-read what I typed and really should have proof-read before submitting.<br><br></div><div>As for the control question - I was planning on having the laptop in the kitchen at the same time, so I would just use the keyboard to control Myth. In an ideal situation I would make the AppleTV a second screen and run Myth fullscreen on that, freeing up the laptop for laptop-esque duties. <br>
<br></div><div>I may end up going the HDMI route for now since it's cheaper... Plus I hate to spend money on an AppleTV device since I already have a Boxee Box and a plethora of XBMC devices. Unfortunately I don't think that anything else supports the functionality I need besides the Apples to Apples (I'm funny) scenario.<br>
