<p>Do you know what kind of card it is? I use a Radeon with the open source driver and have to set a driver option to enable it. Do you know how to test with aplay and speaker test?</p>

Do you try to configure the HDMI in "Configuration" -> "Audio"?<br>
<br>
You can try to configure ALSA manually, just see your audio devices<br>
with "aplay -l" command.<br>
