If you mean it's changing from /dev/video0 to /dev/video2, that's probably what's causing the problem. You need to ensure the device is always available at the location you've specified in setup. You can do this through udev (i.e. creating a better-named link to the device file, such as /dev/pvr150 or /dev/ivtv0 or whatever) or with the kernel module option hack that allows you to specify a kernel number (ivtv_first_minor, I think).</blockquote>

I took a look at the wiki that Mr Buhrmaster recommended, which may take a couple of days to wrap my head around, and I'm wondering if my Irish stubborn streak isn't a glitch causer in the mix also. Along side of the PVR-150 is a K-World 150-U card that is only functional within windows. Would physically removing it be a simpler solution in that there would be only one NTSC card on the PCI bus which would keep it consistently identified? </div>

The wikis that I've seen so far don't go any further in detail for "input connections" to allow me to find the glitch. What should I look at next? There are only two screens for the ivtv card, I think I have the first one correct; the recording priority numbers on the second screen continue to elevate with each reconfiguration, this time to 0,6,6, respectively, I lowered the 6's to 2's, but in the upcoming recordings they still show as 6. All suggestions greatly appreciated.<br>

You shouldn't be modifying priorities. Are you talking about Schedule and Live TV Order? If so, you can change those, but make sure you set them up properly (generally so that Schedule and Live TV Orders are opposite, assuming you actually use Live TV).<br>

That said, "Delete all capture cards" (and you wouldn't need to do "Delete all video sources") will reset everything--numbers and priorities, etc., so that they're done right when you re-create the cards and re-connect inputs.<div class="HOEnZb">
