Hi again,

It seems that the only reason that lirc is needed to run the lcd is that the kernel modules are included in the package, so there's no need to load the service. I removed moved the init.d lirc script from all run-levels and renamed it, so that I won't be tempted to load it later. The lcd still works and the system now shuts down cleanly. I also found this article on getting imon ir codes working on XBMC without lirc, but I ran out of time yesterday so still don't know if this will work with Mythtv.

Unless anyone posts back about mythtv without lirc, I'll give it a try and update the thread.

Cheers!

On Monday, August 19, 2013 09:09 CEST, "Marius Schrecker" <marius.schrecker@lyse.net> wrote:

Hello,

Long time since I'
ve been here, but I am once again trying to get everything playing nice together and need to solve one or two new problems.

I run mythtv 0.26 running on ubuntu 13.04 64 bit. This was an upgrade from mythbuntu 12.04 and I'm aware that one or two things broke during the upgrade as 13.04 is not an officially supported mythbuntu release. However, I needed some other features that were not available on the versions of the software that were installable on 12.04.

My main problem now is that Lirc is broken. I use an Imon-lcd panel. The panel receives the commands fine, but I have trouble unloading the lirc daemon (http://www.mail-archive.com/mythbuntu-bugs@lists.launchpad.net/msg08022.html), It seems there is an incompatibility between lirc 0.9.0-0ubuntu3 and the kernel.

1. The first question is whether I need lirc at all for this to work. I see that the imon can be configured as a regular input device, without lirc, but haven't found c

Even if the remote works, do I still need lirc for the Imon LCD display?

4. IF I still need lirc, has anyone found a workaround for the bug.

I can't be the only one trying to run mythtv with a remote on Ubuntu 13.04

Many thanks for your help!

Marius
