Am using mythtv 26 fixes and have a problem with at least one series recording duplicates (they show scheduled in the upcoming recordings and all of them record). They have a program id (Program ID: SH017330230000) so I am not sure what to check to toubleshoot? Anyone have a tip?
That's a generic episode (meaning the guide doesn't know which one is airing), so MythTV will /always/ record it, regardless of duplicate check method. The only way to prevent its recording is by using a filter that excludes generic episodes.
See http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Duplicate_matching (the Program ID section). The idea is to record the episode and if you've already seen it, you can delete it. This is much better than if we didn't record the episode and you hadn't seen it.

I believe I understand better now. The last 4 digits in the program id are zero indicating a generic episode and that is why all of them are being recorded.

Thanks for the info and link to duplicate matching Mike.
