</div>you'll need to make sure pulse audio is properly configured on your box.<br>
<br>
if you've configured myth to use ALSA by default, it will suspend<br>
pulse to access the ALSA device directly.<br>

you can configure myth to use pulse too; though with SPDIF you<br>
probably do not want that as you'd be loosing 5.1 audio<br>

</div>it all depends on how your pulse audio is configured ; by default you<br>
would have a pulse daemon running, which itself must be in the audio<br>
group . that you're user isn't , is not a problem per say as you do<br>
user -> pulse -> audio<br>
<br>
it's pretty rare these days that pulse isn't properly configured out<br>
of the box though<br>
