My provider allows me to record every channel I pay for, including HBO, Showtime, and other premiums via firewire (so I don't have a need for these other devices). I believe another user who has my provider can record everything he pays for with a cable card device. I am pretty sure if you have TWC, Comcast, or another "major" provider, that is not the case.<br>
