I did some more searching and learned how to run
mythcommflag manually. I can run it successfully as the
mythtv user. Thus something must be off in how the
backend calls mythcommflag?

I ran mythtv-setup. This is my "Commercial Detection
Command" in the general settings:

/usr/bin/ionice -c 2 -n 7 /usr/bin/mythcommflag
Does this need to be modified? This command works
manually as the mythtv user:

mythtv@mythfe01 ~ $ /usr/bin/ionice -c 2 -n 7
/usr/bin/mythcommflag -f /tv0/record/1010_20130509035900.mpg
After not touching my Mythbox for 2 years, I finally
dove into it and upgraded from 0.24 to 0.26. While I
have some nagging issues, the main one for me right
now is that all commflag jobs exit with an error
status of 140. I've searched the web and found some
reference to others seeing this intermittently but
without resolution beyond "restart the backend and it
goes away for a while". In my case, I get this error
every time on every job no matter how many times I
restart the backend.

I looked in the log for clues but don't find any I
understand. Here's a snippet of my logs:

Do you have the option set to start
comm flagging when the recording starts? If so, you may need
to disable that because there's allegedly a race condition
that causes the comm flagger to error out when it hits the end
of the file (as it will frequently if it's trying to work on
the file while it's being recorded). This may not be your
problem, but it's something to try.
Hi Karl,

Thanks for your reply. No, I do not have that box checked.
Thanks,
