corrected then :-)

I suspect people are talking about slightly different things, based
on the intentionally confusing Apple marketing.

First, there was AirTunes, which is encrtpyed music over raop
using a private key that was extracted from an airport express
by a talented individual. There are open source implementations,
such as MythTV, that can support and use that private key, should
you choose to obtain that key and install it.

Then came AirPlay, for photos/videos. Apple choose to rebrand
AirTunes as AirPlay in some marketing blurbs. AirPlay video
is unencrypted.

Next came AirPlay Mirroring. Which uses FairPlay DRM
(the terms Fair and Play are not what you think they are).
FairPlay encryption/key, TTBOMK, has not been reverse
engineered, so there are no open source implementations
(including XBMC, which explicitly state they do not do
AirPlay
Mirroring).

Since Apple only markets current products (and sometimes
only supports current products), when they use the term
AirPlay, they usually mean the latest version, which includes
AirPlay Mirroring, and FairPlay DRM.

So, it is likely that jyavenard@... is referring to AirPlay
Mirroring (aka AirPlay), and mythtv@... is referring to
AirPlay basic (aka AirPlay). So both are right?
