package and running autoremove, I still am left without one. After a bit of troubleshooting I noticed in the apt log that the xserver-xorg-dev package is causing the mythbuntu-desktop package to be removed (see below). I assume this is what's causing my issue. If this is the case, I'm curious to know why the dependency exists and what I need to do to install the X development packages.</span></div><div style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16px; font-family: 'times new roman', 'new york', times, serif; background-color: transparent; font-style: normal; "><br></div></div></div></div></div></blockquote>As a follow-up, it is possible to reinstall mythbuntu-desktop after xserver-xorg-dev has been installed. However, for some reason mythbuntu-desktop then tries to install the full set of mythtv packages (mysql, backend, etc) which is definitely not what I want on my front end.</div><div style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16px;

In any case, I eventually gave up and just cloned a different front end. </div> </div></body></html>
