And perhaps something about use with VGA instead.  The laptop screen is 1280x800 with an Intel driver, the TV is 1920x1080.  Best TV display seems to be with both screens and frontend geometry set to 1024x768; that gives a horizontally squashed display on the laptop - and it needs an audio connection too.<br>

</blockquote><div><br></div><div style>I have seen a lot of odd things using analog VGA ports with TV&#39;s.  It seems that some tv&#39;s simply will not let you run native (or any) HD resolution using a VGA cable.  In some cases you can force it by ignoring edid data and writing your own mode line.  In some cases the TV&#39;s vga circuits simply won&#39;t support anything over 1024x768 or 1280x1024 or whatever.  And of course, sometimes it&#39;s the video card thats the problem; older intel gpu&#39;s have given me trouble.</div>
