<br></div><div>I am running 0.21 and following the advice of if it ain't broke, don't fix it. But I have a very small "broke" I would like to fix. This problem started probably about a year ago. I had many years with no issues at all. Not always, but often when I start a program I get a long delay and then back to the menu and I have to start the show again, which then starts instantly. Also, and more annoying, if I stop a show half way through and restart it, it often does the same thing and I lose my break point so have to manually skip to where I left off.<div>
<br></div><div>I do a<font color="#222222" face="arial, sans-serif"><span style="white-space:nowrap"> </span></font><a href="http://optimize_mythdb.pl" target="_blank">optimize_mythdb.pl</a> every day but perhaps there is still something in the data base that is messed up. This system has been up for many years and may have something clogged. I would be happy to flush all recording rules or any other data base entries for that matter and restart everything. I would prefer to not lose my recorded shows but that would be OK as well if it permanently solved this problem.</div>
</div><div><br></div><div>As usual, the online help I see is undated, and besides that I don't know what applies to my older system. I have found that following outdated or too new advice can cause more harm than good so I am turning to this old reliable group of fellow users for help.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I considered re-installing using 12.04 but there is just too much special stuff on my system, the digital audio took a week to get running and everything else is working great so I decided against that and just decided to focus on getting it working like it did for many years.</div>
</blockquote><div><br></div><div style>0.21 was great, but honestly things have come so far that I don't think that upgrading would be quite the pain that you imagine it to be. For example, setting up digital pass-through was quite a chore then... now it's as simple as selecting an option on a menu for most users. (Thanks JYA)</div>
<div style><br></div><div style>You are willing to go as far as lose all of your recording rules and saved recordings, but not to take the time to upgrade? I understand where your coming from with the whole "if it aint broke..." but really you need to draw a line somewhere. Not sure where you are on the OS side... but since you said 12.04, which is an Ubuntu version, I suspect your on an old Ubuntu build as well... so likely an old kernel, old mysql, etc.</div>
<div style><br></div><div style>If you do upgrade, there is no doubt that you will have to deal with a whole new set of issues/annoyances, but overall I feel that things have improved since 0.21.</div><div style><br></div>
<div style>If possible, you could add another HDD, leave your old drive intact, and build out the system on the new one. That way if you don't like the end result, it's a simple cable swap to revert back. To be safe, I would recommend disconnecting your current drive during the install, just to ensure it remains untouched.</div>
