Hi Greg

The DCX700 DC Box as far as I can see isby default controlled via RF (I set up the DC Box's remote to also control my TV, which I know for certain takes only RF input) . The DC box however does have an IR input jack on the back. My assumption was that plugging an IR receiver cable into the DC box would bypass the RF receiver of the box and allow it to be controlled by the IR Blaster connected to my Myth box.

I'm coming into this particular config pretty fresh so my assumption may be completely off base.

Rob

On Thu, Dec 20, 2012 at 10:46 AM, Mike Perkins <mikep@randomtraveller.org.uk> wrote:
My Cabco, Eastlink Cable, is terminating its analogue cable service as of
next year. The stock DC box they provide is a Motorola DCX700. I've
connected the DC box to my Haupauge 250 capture card, plugged the IR
Receiver cable that came with the 250 into the IR IN port of the DCX700.
I've placed a serial IR blaster connected to COM1 of my Myth box, directly
in front of the DC's IR cable receiver.

I've been following the instructions MyTHTV.ORG Wiki Page - section 5 which
doesn't rely on LIRC (I don't need to use the H'page remote from here on
out)

The Serial IR Blaster's LED lights up when I execute either of the two
SourceForge serial IR Blaster perl scripts, so I know the IR blaster does
work. I've also checked the DCX700's diag menu and it detected that the IR
receiver is attached. But so far no luck getting the mythbox's IR Blaster
to have an effect on the DC Box.

I'm running M'Buntu 10.04 LTS

Any advice on how to make this thing work? Ideally I'd love to hear from
any Myth users who subscribe to Eastlink's DC service, but any advice at
all would be really appreciated.
Why would you want to plug the Hauppauge IR receiver into your DCX700 box? I don't see what use that is.

THe Hauppauge IR receiver is used so that /you/ can tell the frontend what you want it to do. You can't do that by connecting it any other way.

All you need between your PVR-250 and the DCX700 is a blaster, which you appear to have connected. You don't need anything else. The DCX700 already has a built-in IR receiver, which should communicate with the remote control you received with it.
