It's the latest distribution of MythBuntu. .25 Installed via the CD.

I'm thinking if someone is intimate with building "Themes" for MythTV, they should have all the information needed.
Using something like festival to read the screens or whatever is highlighted (preferred) should be easy.
I also have noticed that since I have a soundcard on the motherboard, AND the HDMI output, maybe the speech output could go thru the alternate soundcard.

Thanks man!
Lee, what distribution are you running? Ubuntu? Fedora? Can you give me the versions and stuff?

Hi Lee, I haven't forgotten this yet. I also haven't started yet.
However, you might want to repost to the mythtv list to see if
anyone else (like a core developer) can get to it before me.
Unfortunately, money won't make things go faster, nor would I
accept any money, I need to juggle family/work.
I have programmed my remote with jump points for her so she
can push one button to go to TV and one button to "listen to
music" and another for recorded programs, etc.

However I still need the screens to be read, AT LEAST whatever
is focused or selected.

I'm now using MythTV .25

I'm far from rich, but I'd be willing to pay what I can to
someone to develop this for her. As I said she is severely
disabled and blind, so this is something she needs when I'm
not around.

Thanks!
Hi Monkey Pet! :)

A "panic button" to get her to the main menu if
anything goes wrong.
One button to music, another to TV, another to
Recordings, and
another to videos
All that I can do in mapping I think (Jump Points)
BUT the main thing is for it to be able to announce
where it's at,
and read whatever is highlighted, such as particular
show in the
guide, or when navigating songs or videos.

I would have thought that it would have been easy as a
screen
reader setup, but apparently mythtv is not coded that
way. I'm
guessing the menu items are graphic elements instead
of text.

I had hoped that anything highlighted was simple text,
and a
rudimentary reader could just vocalize what's selected.

I have no idea how screen readers are setup and/or used,
so I am going to start at ZERO. Also I never fully looked
into the mythtv codebase, again starting from ZERO.

I am going to google search my way around for generic
information first, then get familiar with the mythtv
codebase, then try to see how difficult it is to alter the
codebase. My plan to start on the mythtv 0.26 codebase.

Don't get your hopes up though, i need to ramp up on so
many things :)

Thanks for your help!!
Hi Lee, can you give some common menu navigation
that your
wife would use? I am not a myth-developer, but I
am willing to
poke around the code.
Thanks!!
