MythVideo has an option to delete videos, that is why it wants write<br>
access. If you don't want to give it this ability then you can safely<br>
ignore that warning (I think it can also rip to that directory, but I<br>
haven't used the mythtv ripper in a long long time)<br>

Regarding external players, external players have no idea what a<br>
MythTV storage group is, which is why you cannot use storage groups<br>
with external players. The external player functionality (what is<br>
left) is going away in a future release. Note, this has nothing to do<br>
with opening a different player (such as VLC) and playing back the<br>
file on the filesystem, this only has to do with MythTV.<br>
