I probably should do a little searching for this first, probably going to get a JFGI response, but I'm hoping to make this an easy question with an easy quick answer.

I'm currently running basic serial / home brew IR through MythTV...or I was for years. The Serial IR configuration dropped off of Mythbuntu's IR configuration quite some time ago...and I've not been using IR to control my Myth Setup for quite some time. That said, every time I upgrade or LIRC upgrades I basically have to go back in and manually reconfigure (copying files around, etc.) to get LIRC to work and I can never really find the time to do so.

I'm on Mythbuntu 11.10 ATM and simply looking for what the best Plug and Play IR system is for MythTV at this point. I don't mind spending a little bit of money, but I want something that is "future proof"...something that will likely be supported on the mythbuntu config menu for a long time to come.

Basically, I want to be able to plug something in, make a selection on the Mythbuntu (or other) menu and have the remote at least recognised and talking to the OS...I can configure from there. Recommendations?
