<div>Hello</div><div>I have firewire set up to my motorolla qip7100-2 cable box on fios. </div><div>I had recently moved and ended up with a new cable box(same model but must be</div><div>later manufacture date)</div><div>
Firewire worked beautifully on my old box before i moved. Now with this new box</div><div>its really flakey. </div><div><br></div><div>Someitmes i can watch live tv off it for hours. Sometimes i can record my shows.</div>
<div>Most of the time it doesnt work. When i try to use firewire tester i get this</div><div>error. </div><div><div>You may need to manually set the channel on the receiving node.</div><div>Failed (sync failed)</div><div>
P2P: Testing...libiec61883 warning: Failed to allocate bandwidth.</div></div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>It also takes me forever to get the box working again after this. Turn off</div>
<div>computer and cable box. Unplug firewire and power form cable for about 2 minutes</div><div>then boot computer and cable box back up. then reconnect firewire. </div><div>This only sometimes fixes it. </div><div><br></div>
<div>Also what i thought was weird i cant set any options using plugctl.</div><div>I try to set it to p2p for broadcast and it never sets. Gives me no error but</div><div>plugreport doesn't show it changed. </div><div>
<br></div><div>Also channel changing Via 6200 script works everytime. </div><div><br></div><div>So my questions are these. </div><div>1. Anyone know why i cant set any options via plugctl? This could be related but</div>
<div>i have no idea. </div><div>2. The firewire card is a via chipset. Is it worth trying to buy a TI based</div>
<div>one? Could that be the cause of my all of a sudden flakyness?</div><div class="im"><div>3. Should i try to get fios to give me a new cable box and hope the new one is</div><div>better?</div></div><div class="im"><div>
4. I also have a pvr150 in the mythtv but i believe its dying because i get</div>
<div>really crappy quality from it. The cable box is only 10% of my recording so what</div><div>are my other option. I dont want to spend much because its such a small amount</div><div>of recordings. </div><div><br></div>
<div><br></div></div><div>Thanks for any help you can give. </div><span><font color="#888888"><div><br></div><div>Aaron. </div>

<br></div></blockquote></div>This is just a shot in the dark, but are you running 64-bit? I tried 64 bit and could never get it stable, 32-bit has been running perfect for 3 years. I'm also running FiOS with a qip7100-2. Here are my notes; <a href="http://www.maistech.net/2009/11/mythbuntu-firewire-channel-and.html" target="_blank">http://www.maistech.net/2009/11/mythbuntu-firewire-channel-and.html</a>
