Once one eliminated the locked/protected channels (mostly the premium<br>
HD channels like National Geographic, Discovery HD, The Score HD) from<br>
MythTV, I used a daisy chained Motorola DCT-6200 and DCT-6416 very<br>
successfully with Shaw cable (Vancouver) for 3 years from 2008 to<br>
2011. Had no zero-length or failed recordings over firewire capture<br>
after the initial set-up period.<br>

Unfortunately, I had to leave Shaw for other reasons (pricing). But<br>
the firewire-based capture never failed me. It's too bad some of<br>
their newer hardware doesn't have firewire ports anymore.<br>
