I took the plunge and updated my MB to openSuSE 12.1, too, and I am facing the same problem: Upon starting any mythtv program (mythfrontend, mythtv-setup), the arclight background comes up and then the screen goes black. I can kill the program with ctrl+c.

The symptoms are exactly the same as those of the initial reporter, no vendor is shown.

Seeing this I reinstalled 12.1 from scratch to a spare hd I had, but the problem remains, both with the manual nvidia installation from their site and by using the official nvidia opensuse repo (I just tried it).

So, I now have two useless setups!

Since the system is still being setup, I haven't started mythbackend yet, and I cannot, anyway, because I had to remove a local tv card.

The mythtv-setup log is here. Should I open a ticket?
