There is currently a great solution for this: Emit

Emit is the Android equivalent of AirVideo. It supports HTTP Live Streaming for Android 2.3+. There is server software for Win/Mac/Linux. The client software is http/iOS/Android. It works great on my Acer A500 running 3.2.

My current setup:

cron job for mythlink every hour and include livetv to /myth/show_names

Emit running on my mythtv backend pointed at the /myt/show_names/ directory

I believe the developer is using ffmpeg along with erlang. The website is located at https://www.emitapp.com/ for the server software. If you use the Amazon App Store, the app is on sale for $2. The developer is also very responsive to support requests.

The http live streaming feature introduced in 0.25 will be great. However, I recommend Emit for those running myth <=0.24 or phones that are not yet on Ice Cream Sandwich.

-Brian
