I've been wanting to develop an Android app for some time now and would be willing to attempt to develop an app like this for Android. I'm currently on MythTV trunk so I should have the new API's available for testing. As of now I only have an Android phone, but I also have an HP Touchpad and could throw CM7 on it to test it on a tablet version. I will play around over the next few days to see if I can get any of the basics working.

Cool I definitely will! I don't want to step on anyones toes, for now I will just work on learning the basics of the new API and Android and maybe make some headway or a library that could later be rolled into your project. I've just finished setting up my machine for Android development and completed the "Hello World" tutorial so I have a ways to go. I've done a lot of SOAP development in C# so hopefully some of that knowledge will transfer over to Java and Android.
