Based purely from BE > FE network utilisation, LiveTV 1080i takes around 5Mbps sustained, so i guess you could consider that a ball-park figure for required HDD speed. i've seen a max bit rate figure of 12000kbps for a recording though..<br>
<br>i've also done yet more changes since my original post; moved from an ATX board to ITX board for the BE system. bottom line power draw looks like a further drop of around 5watts.<br>the atom 330 FE is also running far better than the hype on here (as a purely playback device). if you look at some threads here, the atom is a no go area for anything. there's a few of us using atoms for FE-only and i now approve of their use :P fwiw, i'm using the Zotac ionitx-f-e board so does have VDPAU capability. <br>
definately forget the atom (and the amd fusion) for a BE device though. my E6550 system can load mythtv components around 4 times faster than the atom can, so i dread to think what sort of results that would have on database performance. <br>
