[ 13.674905] hdpvr 1-2:1.0: untested firmware, the driver might not work.<br>[ 13.864700] hdpvr 1-2:1.0: device now attached to video1<br><br>As best I can tell, /lib/firmware has no firmware for the HDPVR and the Linux module does not support loading of firmware. The MythTV HDPVR page (<a href="http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HD-PVR#Firmware_Upgrade_Process">http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/Hauppauge_HD-PVR#Firmware_Upgrade_Process</a>) says to upgrade the firmware on the device to download the latest Windows drivers, plug the PVR into a Windows computer and run the installer. I'd say it is even more likely that the firmware isn't on my backend as the two PVRs are running different firmware when if it was supplied from /lib/firmware they'd (I think) be the same firmware...<br>

</div></div>I think the firmware is loaded into the device during linux boot - from<br>
eg /lib/firmware in Fedora. Your dmesg will probably quote the name of<br>
the file being loaded and googling for that might get you to the new<br>
version. Or may be someone on this list with an HDPVR can do that or<br>
tell you how to extract it from the Windows file.<br>
