Hi,<br><br>I dont know if it would be of any interest, but I started on a QT program which could be used to edit the channels list, see its icons and stuff like that. I never got it all finished, but at least I got something which works, and at least has helped me sorting the channels right. I will gladly send it if anyone wants to have a look.<br>

I wanted to look at the channel editor since the developers are planning to replace the mythweb editor with it.<br>

I know you it is not finished yet, but I'm rather disappointed with what I see so far.<br>

First, why is it limited to 20 lines? My computer display is 2560x1600, and I easily have room for 60 lines on my display. Even<br>
selecting 50 lines per page will only show 20 lines with a scroll bar. I always hate looking at any kind of data through a<br>
postage stamp sized window with vast empty real estate around it. I have that real estate, I went out of my way to get it,<br>
please let me use it. This was one of the primary reasons I preferred the Mythweb editor to the one in backendsetup.<br>

There are three very important columns missing from the channel list display as it is: Frequency ID, Subchannel ID, and XMLID.<br>
Frequency ID and Subchannel ID are required to know the actual channel you are editing Frequency ID and Subchannel ID are the<br>
things that actually identify the channel. Channel Number, and Callsign have, in the past, effectively been random garbage until<br>
they have been manually edited. And XMLID is generally the most important thing you are going to edit, so you need to know what<br>
it is to see if it is correct. The only real complaint I ever had with the Mythweb channel editor was the lack of the subchannel<br>
ID which made it difficult to figure out which actual channel you were editing.<br>
