<p>Duplicate detection works in a few different methods depending on the information available to it. First if the programid hasn't been seen/recorded before then the program is seen as a new program and gets recorded... this is what seems to get me in the uk with a freeview and freesat system using eit as the programme guide source. In order to limit the duplicates recorded I restrict the channels that are recorded, so for instance I know that doctor who premiers on bbc1hd so I just set a rule to record all bbc1hd doctor who showings and then use the duplicate detection as well - although I haven't had much luck with it.</p>
<p>I understand that the radiotimes info is better (xmltv rt grabber)</p>
<p>If the programme id is not present then myth uses subtitle/description as determined by your recording rule.</p>
