<big>Following suggestions and some additional surches --- This is what
I did:<br>

<blockquote><big>installed linux 2.6.38-1 (and associated headers and
common)<br>
gary@debian:~$git clone -b fixes/0.24 git://github.com/MythTV/mythtv.git<br>
gary@debian:~$git pull fixes/0.24 git://github.com/MythTV/mythtv.git<br>
Re-booted to the 2.6.38 kernel<br>
installed the mythtv fixes just retrieved.<br>

The results: Still getting errors and <b><i>no watch tv</i></b><br>

One problem, Im not quit sure which card type to select in
capture-card-setup --- I have a hauppauge pvr-150; I believe it should
be <big>"ivtv mpeg-2 encoder card" or "analog v4l caplure card" - but
which one?<br>

getting many errors like so:<br>
