Either you disconnect one and plug the other and restart X<br>

Or you configure xorg.conf to handle it properly. No need to reboot,<br>
but you'll have to restart X.<br>

If using nvidia, using nvidia-settings utility, you can usually get<br>
away with not even requiring to reboot X<br>
