The ion chipset includes a nvidia 9400m gpu and it is this that enables the use of vdpau in mythtv, offloading certain media playback tasks to the gpu.</p>
<p>Different nvidia chips different codecs... the nvidia chips (certain 8x00 series and 9x00 series) support mpeg2 and h264 but not mpeg4part2 (divx).</p>
<p>The gt220 supports mpeg4part2 divx i think as well.</p>
<p>If your looking for a new frontend people seem to be looking for boards with onboard ion or preferably ion2.<br>
If you are looking for a pci card (which is different to pciexpress) youll likely have to look on ebay for an old one. Pci bus is also quite limited... if you have the option on your motherboard go for a pciexpress board. A pci express board should be in the 50quid range.</p>
