In my particular case, I had to add my bindings install directory to $PYTHONLIB for mythfrontend to find the bindings. (ALL of my installs are trunk configured with --prefix=/opt/mythtv) I was able to verify that I dont have bindings installed anywhere else on the system especially since I got bit by that with one of the previous binds updates. Since I expect that it will work properly when the bindings are installed system-wide, I hadnt reported it previously and just added it to my FE startup script.

Every single one of these issues, to the very last, for trunk users in
the last few months have been issues with python bindings installs.
You may see output when you run the command, but in all likelihood you
are seeing the output produced by the old python bindings. You can
post the output of the command if you like, but odds are that's what's
happening here too. This has been a persistent problem with the
Ubuntu packages, upon which I believe JYA's are based.
