Up to now I've been using a USB-connected IR receiver on my mythtv frontend, but for my new 'frontend in an old sky box' I want to use the IR receiver device that is already sitting mounted on the PCB inside the front of my case.

If I wire up the IR receiver with a couple of components as shown on the lirc page HERE, and connect it to the serial port header on my motherboard, how do I tell 'lircd' that I'm using a device on the serial port?

Any pointers or links to FAQs appreciated!

Thanks!
George
