</div>Most of the digital tuner cards you can buy won't be able to record<br>
encrypted content, so you're really looking at a rental. The goal is<br>
to keep the cost of that rental as low as possible, so renting a cable<br>
card is cheaper than renting a STB.<br>

If you want to inquire with Cablevision about their support for cable<br>
cards, you might want to just tell them you're thinking of getting a<br>
TiVo and ask if it would work with that and what the charge would be<br>
for a cable card. If you mention MythTV or the HDHR Prime, they're<br>
likely to get confused and just say they don't support that because<br>
it's not on their script.<br>
