Hi,

tried all those various suggestions, but it still doesn't change anything for me :-(

Switching from DVB-T to DVB-S locks up the frontend.

Investigation shows that the frontend appears to lockup because, actually, it's the backend which crashes and restarts.

Backend log shows

*** glibc detected *** /usr/bin/mythbackend: munmap_chunk(): invalid pointer: 0xb5cb3020 ***

(or similar)

followed by a restart. This on attempting to start the DVB-S channel.
And newer firmware too. And I don't know offhand what kernel version I am running on the 9.10 box.
I will check all those things later on.

I just want a setup which will be "non-techie" friendly so I can let the kids loose on it, for FTA TV viewing and am not quite at that level yet with myth frontend.
I have setup XBMC as a media library frontend and that is extremely "non-techie" friendly. And the myth backend never ever falls over. Between bursts of experiments I've had it running for months with no issues.

So if I could crack the DVB-T to DVB-S zap issue I'd be all set.

Thanks for the pointers.

On Wed, Aug 25, 2010 at 3:03 PM, plainfaceboy . <plainfaceboy@hotmail.com> wrote:
It was never really right after this, and since upgrading to 10.04 it's gone from bad to worse!
