James,

I've actually been trying this myself the past several months.

Most recently, I have the ATOM based boards you mentioned from Zotac, particularly with the PCIx16 slot. I've been trying the past several days in putting in a NVidia N210 card, but have been unsuccessful in getting it perform as one would expect.

Thus far the boards with the ION are working far better than that the N210 added.

I saw James post about going with the Lower end board with the additional slots. This is seemingly the way to go from my perspective. My only problem with the AMD's, is that I seem to hit allot of issues using ATI cards with MYTH. I have several various setups. And all with a ATI card, either onboard 4200 or a PCIx16 5770 gives me allot of issues where I can't even get it to play video thru Myth.

I'm sure there has to be a way to get the ATI cards to perform, but have had such easy success with NVidia VDPAU, I've been staying on that path. But I would like to be able to use my onboard ATI's.

Do you have any better luck with ATI cards for setup?

The ION's do perform, but it always seem to be allot of tweaking, with each and every update/change. It makes much more sense to be sure of enough powerful system than the constant tweaking.

I'm going to start searching for a micro ATX solution, unless I can get this N210 and ATI's to work.
