I would recommend that you try the settings in the Mythwelcome part of
the ACPI wakeup wiki <A HREF="http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/ACPI_Wakeup">http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/ACPI_Wakeup</A>. People
using old Ubuntu guides have had issues on 10.04 e.g. see here

You knocked over the first domino for me and the rest fell in turn.<BR>
All the info was right there in front of me but that forum post pointed it out...<BR>

...it was the "sudo -H" that I was using. That is the second time it has tripped me up, the first being when for some reason you had to add it <IMG SRC="cid:1278200648.2991.4.camel@glen-desktop" ALIGN="middle" ALT=";-)" BORDER="0"><BR>

I removed the -H from the MythWelcome settings and I got the exact same result as your forum post link.<BR>
Then I went into the backend settings and removed the -H and the sudo (since you can run mythshutdown without sudo apparently) and bingo it worked.<BR>
