I just upgraded from Ubuntu Karmic to Lucid, and now this sound thing is all messed up again for me. The "EXPERIMENTALLY_ALLOW_PULSE_AUDIO=1" hack no longer works, and I've tried every combination of audio source in both mythtv and boxee I can think of, as well as a number of different .asoundrc incantations, but no dice.<div>
<br></div><div>Boxee works fine if I launch it normally, outside of MythTV. It is only when launched by MythTV that the sound doesn't work. Anyone have other tips I can try?</div><div><br></div><div>thx,</div><div>-j<br>

wow nevermind....I just fixed it. Just create /etc/asound.conf with<br><br>pcm.!default {<br> type plug<br> slave.pcm "hdmi"<br>}<br><br>Now everything works great. :)<br>Hope this helps someone else.<div>

I'm running into this problem now as well. hdmi audio out works from within mythtv (both analog and ac3 pass-through) but sound won't work in huludesktop when launched from within mythtv or as standalone. Could you explain your solution again? I had hulu working with spdif output, but i recently changed to hdmi output. I have mythfrontend setup to use ALSA:hdmi and have unchecked the spdif output checkboxes, so myth is working fine. <br>
<br>I'm still running myth 0.21, and am on gentoo 2.6.31 and alsa 1.0.20 with intel G45 chipset. <br><br>Would appreciate any help,<br><font color="#888888">Tony<br><br><br><br></font><div class="gmail_quote"><div><div>

I discovered last night that my fix for boxee isn't a very good one anyway -- the main boxee application works, but all boxee apps don't get sound when launched from within mythtv, so I can't even watch youtube via boxee with my current setup.</div>
<div><br></div><div>I'm curious why mythtv won't work when by using my default audio device, set with gnome's sound control applet, though (Karmic Koala). All other apps (boxee, hulu, et al) seem to respect those settings.</div>
