implication kernel 2.6.31.

Seems like a real mess, and googling 'error inserting h826d' doesn't
produce much help - merely others with similar unsolved problems, or
posts in languages I don't grok.

I say it only supports up to 2.6.30 because I downloaded and extracted the
archive, and it has source code plus precompiled object code. They have a
separate directory for the precompiled object code, with a separate dir for
each kernel version, up to 2.6.30.
Did Ubuntu 9.10 initially come with a kernel <= 2.6.30?

According to the release notes in the Avermedia 64-bit beta driver:<br>
<br>
<tt>1.1 Supported Distributions<br>
<br>
This version of driver installer supports kernel 2.6.17~2.6.31.</tt>
<br>
<br>
For whatever that is worth....<br>
<br>
<br>
I would be interested to see what the Avermedia driver installation log
had to say when the installation failed:<br>
<br>
/tmp/H826D-install.log<br>
<br>
...<br>
<br>
In looking at the last installer dialog screen, he appears to have
symbol issues prior to trying to set up this device.<br>
<br>
Is it likely a remnant of the previous issues he had trying to get the
303U card running?<br>
<br>
If so, I would be very tempted to wipe the install, and start with a
fresh ubuntu install...<br>
<br>
Good luck, ummu!<br>
