<p>I sort of agree with the previous poster.</p>
<p>I would repurpose the p3 500 or find a cheap core2 system as a cupboard-based BE server.</p>
<p>Use zotac ion a boards for front ends <a href="http://mini-itx.com">mini-itx.com</a> has them for around 200quid with case and ram boot off the network or usb, add a fan speed controller for 4.50 and you can't even hear it.<br>

In my opinion: If you want to run your computer in your living room, it<br>

I own a ZOTAC IONITX motherboard (with an included external 90W power<br>
supply), 2GB, two 2,5 inch 320GB harddisks and a Terratec Cinergy DT USB XS<br>
Diversity (dual tuner). Also a slimline DVD-RW. The powersupply is 90W and<br>
the entire system consumes only around 30W. It has also 10 USB ports,<br>
enough for external tuner cards and laptop hdds. Besides using it as a mail<br>
and file server 24/7 it encodes also runs the mythbackend and frontend. I<br>
watch HD-TV and HD-videos. The system runs perfect. CPU usage is arond<br>
10-30%. Watching HD content is only 15% CPU usage. I have only 1 8cm fan<br>
running at 800rpms, so its almost quiet.<br>

I think you could reconsider. IMHO your system will be too loud, too big<br>
and consumes way too much energy.<br>
But if you really need the PCI slots then discard my information.<br>
