This is the key. Making "save money" the priority when building a
MythTV setup usually results in spending more money down the road than
otherwise, from dissatisfaction with the results.

Seek quality at a reasonable price and you will get quality results.
The converse holds true as well. You are welcome to build a MythTV box
out of the junk in your closet and, if it meets your needs,
congratulations. But in this day and age of $30 VDPAU video cards and
$200 Ion+VDPAU frontends there is no excuse to do so and then complain
to the list that HD playback isn't perfect.
