<div>FWIW,watching a DVB-T recording (720x480 onto laptop screen 1280x800) CPU usage figures (from atop) are:</div>
<div> </div>
<div>mythfrontend.real: 26%</div>
<div>Xorg: 5%</div>
<div>mythbackend: 3%</div>
<div>mysqld: 1%</div>
<div> </div>
<div>The next process is atop itself (0%).<br><br></div>

<div>I think the query about how you measure CPU usage is valid.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>I'm running MythTV 0.22 under Ubuntu 9.10 on a Dell Latitude D810 (1.8Mhz Cemtrino, 1.5Gb RAM)<br></div>
<div>It's got an external monitor as well as the builtin screen so I can monitor he CPU using atop without disturbing the frontend.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>Initially frontend.real used about 14% while backend used about 3%. After a few minutes, the frontend usage dropped to 0% while the backend stays about the same (maybe drops to 2% or even 1%). The only other non-zero process in mysqld at 1% (sometimes). Apart from the odd spike in backend use (to 100% n the hour) it's been like that for over 10 minutes now.</div>
<div> </div>
<div>How are other people measuring the CPU usage?<br></div>

<div class="h5">Sorry for the branch from my original thread: Mythfrontend idle cpu consumption help. I thought I'd try to get the attention of those that may have efficiently working machines...if they're out there.<br>
<br>There seems to be people in the original thread that seem to think the issue I'm having IS happening to EVERYONE, and that this is by design. I see 14% utilization from mythfrontend when it just sits idle on a menu screen while the cpu is clocked at 1Ghz. With 0.21, I'm pretty sure it hovered between 0-2% utilization (what I'm calling normal).<br>
<br>So, as the Subject says, this a quick poll for those of you who have 0.22 installed. (I'm especially interested in those that are ubuntu based).<br><br>Who has a "normal" working 0.22 install and only sees 0-2% CPU utilization when sitting idle on mythfrontend menu screens. If this describes the behavior of your install, could you help me out in giving a short description of your system.<br>
