It appears that many people have firewire working with Motorola STBs with little or no problems. I am very close and do not know whether I'm chasing a STB bug, a MythTV bug, or my cable company's screwing with me.

I removed the external channel changer from the cardinput record. I then set up about eight recordings over a 24 hour period. The first five worked fine. On the sixth, The Da Vinci Code on TNTHD, the recording started OK and 25 minutes into it the video was lost. The BE tried forever to reestablish contact with the STB:

I tried restarting the BE and got the same behavior. I stopped the BE and ran scanfw. It said the channel was encrypted (CCI bit set). I ran it again about a minute later and it said the channel was clear. I waited another minute and ran it again and it said the channel was clear. I restarted the BE and it began recording the movie once again. If there is anything to say about the BE is that it produced 13MB of useless log file while it tried to reset the firewire port.

Is this something that we just have to live with? Anyone have this same problem?

Running trunk, v21133, ubuntu 9.04, firewire set up as broadcast and 200mbps, DCH3200 STB.

-- Ken E.
