<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0" ><tr><td valign="top" style="font: inherit;">I have recently setup my first MythTV system (combined FE,BE).&nbsp; I am using mythbuntu 8.10 with the 0.21-fixes updates.&nbsp; So far, I am dissapointed by the HD playback and need some help making it work better.&nbsp; The playback is not smooth, especially when there is any<br>motion or panning.&nbsp; NBC and CBS are paritcularly bad.<br><br>My system has an 3.15 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1330MHz FSB, 4GB SDRAM.&nbsp; The video storage is on a seperate disk than the system.&nbsp; I'm using an NVidia 9400GT 512MB video card, connected via VGA to my Plasma TV.&nbsp; The video resolution is set to match my panels native display resolution (1280x768,60Hz).&nbsp; The capture devices are two HDHomeRuns.<br><br>I started with the default profile (CPU-?) and switched to the high quality profile.&nbsp; I changed the filters to Yadiffx2 which seemed to help a bit.&nbsp;
 CPU usage is around 50-60% when playing back 1080i MPEG2 recordings.<br><br>I have been considering trying Bob2x, but have been following the&nbsp; discussion between Tom Dexter, Paul Gardiner, et al about a new deinterlacer that might work better.&nbsp; However, I am not using an interlaced display, so I don't know if their filter would work for me or not, but I am willing to try it if it would.&nbsp; I also have no idea how to go about doing so, since I'm not building MythTV from&nbsp; source.<br><br>I am new to MythTV, and have spent quite a bit of time resolving many other issues.&nbsp; I haven't been able to get much improvement with the HD playback, and rather than continuing with the trial and error approach, I would like some suggestions on what might work best to improve this.<br><br><br></td></tr></table>
